Specific On Utilizing Or Building A Green Screen Studio

By Trevor Weir

A popular studio used for movies with special effects is a green screen studio. Now interestingly enough even though the color green is used frequently you can really use any color you want. Green just tends to be preferable because green is found in more things than other colors. You can build your own green screen studio or you can rent a studio. The course of action you take will depend on how long you need the studio and the size of the green screen.

There are many studios that can be used and you can also build your own green screen if you need it for extended times. Many times building your own may be less expensive than renting one.

Basically the green screen is needed in order to incorporate two different images together. The green screen will be replaced with a different image and green tends to be used because you do not need as much light as you would for other colors. The type of technology needed to do this is called chroma key technology.

If you are building your own green screen then you need to be picky about the type of green material you chose. Opaque green material that reflects as little light as possible is the best, though all material will reflect a small amount of light. Using a green screen background is much more sensitive than using a normal background so you want to take the time to get the perfect material.

It is best to use a lighter green material, almost neon for the green screen but the color should not be so bright that it could be considered yellow. If your eye is getting confused then you can bet that the computer will have problems in post editing. The shade of the color is quite important.

Fabric is annoying as it will crease so the fabric that you use should be as crease free as possible. This creasing is the biggest disadvantage with using fabric and you can save a lot of time if the fabric is smooth and does not need to constantly be ironed.
