The Correct Way To Make A Massive Impact With A Tiny Card "Business Cards For Photographers

By Clwyd Probert

When starting out with any small business, one of the first things that you will need are business cards. They're the way that you can spread the word to buddies and family that you have started a new undertaking and they present all your new contact data. Many new entrepreneurs make the mistake of going to the local print shop and getting them to design business cards using one of their standard templates. This is a very bad idea.

Locally produced cards will look just like everybody else's. They are going to have not personality and sometimes the quality of the paper and printing is average at the best. As wedding photographers or as any other sort of photographer, your image and how you present yourself is highly important.

There are a couple of rules you want to follow to be sure you don't mess things up:

- Find the best quality paper available. This is something you will give out to a potential customer, you wish to convey the impression of your exacting standards.
- Find an amazing image. Here is your opportunity to show off your skills and have someone carry it around with them, find an image that actually represents you and the message you are endeavoring to get across. Never present a standard image or brand from a variety of other photographers designs.
- Make your contact data clear and easy-to-read. They should be black text on a white background. Include e-mail, cell telephone and your web address.
- Keep the front page design straightforward "ideally only one image covering the whole card.

Tip: In the UK there's a great internet business card company called moo.com (yes really) "they produce great cards which are ideal for photographers as you may have a different image on each card. Ie you can order a box of 50 cards with a different image on each card, so you get to carry around your whole portfolio.

In conclusion, go for the very highest quality and make your images stand out.
